This living room definitely needed a bit of TLC, the room felt dark and dated, so we had the brief of making it feel brighter and more welcoming without being too modern so it was still in keeping the house.
To make the room more practical (the daughters dog often visited) we replaced the dark carpet with a light oak laminate which in itself made a huge difference to the space.
We changed the curtains to an elegant triple pinch heading in an Iliv fabric. The pale background features an elegant embroidered design in soft colours with clean lines, which kept this is a floral pattern from looking old fashioned. We carried on the simple lines with the wall and ceiling lights, which added more light to the room.
In order to stop the room becoming bland, and for the back of the room not to feel neglected, we used a textured Tektura wallpaper in duck egg with highlights of gold to give it some depth.
We achieved our goal of making the room feel fresher while still maintaining a cosiness that is welcoming to the whole family.
