As we move into spring it is the perfect time to check out the new colour trends for the year ahead in the world of interiors. Yet again the main people who influence our colour choices have announced their thoughts. This year they all appear to be on the same page, opting for soft colours, a definite change from the bold, dramatic colours we have seen in the last few years.

Farrow & Ball have had a complete about turn in their colour trends. This year selecting cosy neutrals, rather than the strong colours of 2023. They are combining neutral shades to create schemes that are easy on the eye. For those who are looking for something more, F&B suggest using a dark grey or brown on woodwork alongside the neutrals, this will make the walls feel lighter in comparison, and the room feel bigger and more open.

Dulux has chosen Sweet Embrace as their colour of the year. The gentle blossom pick is welcoming, bringing a sense of softness and warmth to any space. They are suggesting this colour can be used in a number of ways, such as combining with a strong ochre for an uplifting look. Alternatively, using neutral shades to create a warm, comforting backdrop. Like Farrow & Ball they have chosen a softer, prettier tone than previous years.

Pantones choice is Peach Fuzz, a colour that is radiant with warmth and modern elegance. They state ‘It’s a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body & soul.’ Yet another muted tone for 2024.

One thing we have discovered over the last few years is that when thinking about choosing colours for your home, there are no longer strict rules, like only using light colours in small rooms, or that clashing colours should not be put together. Now there are very few limitations on what can be done, meaning you can create a home that is exactly how you want it, a space that you will truly enjoy living in.
